Although she loved him dearly, she had an unfulfilled wish to travel to the court of her dead uncle, whom she had never seen. She planned to wed him, but in the meantime, her uncle appointed her a maid to do the household work and cook for the princess. She fell in love with the young man and they eloped, but were arrested and imprisoned in the tower of Ypres by the Prussian army.

The Princess’s story is very interesting and romantic. Although she had already experienced imprisonment and divorce, she managed to keep her royal dignity and never allowed herself to be captured again. This aspect of her character is well-known.
